November 15, 2024 – President-elect Donald J. Trump has announced that Doug Burgum, the Governor of North Dakota, will join his Administration as both Secretary of the Interior and Chairman of the newly formed National Energy Council.
The National Energy Council will oversee all aspects of American energy, including permitting, production, regulation, and transportation. It will focus on cutting red tape, promoting innovation, and driving private sector investments across the economy to achieve U.S. energy dominance.
Trump emphasized that energy dominance would reduce inflation, improve national security, and enhance American diplomatic power globally. As Chairman of the National Energy Council, Burgum will also have a seat on the National Security Council.
Trump stressed that Burgum’s leadership would help usher in a new era of prosperity and world peace, enabling the U.S. to fully utilize its vast natural resources. Additionally, the Administration will focus on strengthening the nation’s electrical grid and reducing energy costs for citizens and small businesses.
Burgum’s efforts will aim to protect the nation’s natural resources and restore the U.S. oil and gas advantage, ensuring the country’s energy independence and long-term economic growth.
