Invitation to the Southeast Asian Community Leaders Forum

We invite you to attend the Southeast Asian Community Leaders Forum, hosted by the Philadelphia Cambodian American business community and Bel Leong-Hong, Chair of the DNC AAPI Caucus. This event will bring together Southeast Asian community leaders and special guests from the Philadelphia area to discuss key issues affecting the community, strengthen mutual understanding, and foster collaboration. It will also provide a relaxed, enjoyable space for networking and interaction. Family-friendly gatherings, voter outreach, and other community engagement activities will also be available. We warmly welcome your enthusiastic participation!

Special Guests:

  • Hon. Julie Su
    participating in a personal capacity
    Julie Su was born in Wisconsin and is of Chinese descent. She graduated from Stanford University and obtained her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, serving as a civil rights attorney for over 15 years. In 2011, she joined the California state government, holding positions as the Director of the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement and Secretary of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency. In 2021, she was nominated by President Joe Biden as Deputy Secretary of Labor and confirmed the same year. In February 2023, she became the Acting Secretary of Labor and was formally nominated for the position later that month.

  • Hon. Gary Locke
    Former Secretary of Commerce, Former U.S. Ambassador to China, Former Governor of Washington
    Gary Locke is an American Chinese politician and attorney. He served as the Governor of Washington from 1997 to 2005, becoming the first Asian American governor in the U.S. He later served as the U.S. Secretary of Commerce from 2009 to 2011 and was nominated by President Barack Obama as the U.S. Ambassador to China in 2011, becoming the first Asian American to hold that position. He stepped down as Ambassador in 2014 and has served as the Chair of the Committee of 100 since 2021.

  • Hon. Dilawar Syed

    Dilawar Syed is a Pakistani-American businessman. he is the highest-ranking Muslim American in the Biden administration. Prior to this role, Syed served as the Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, promoting U.S. trade and business interests.
