[VT Washington, D.C.] January 20, 2025 — Following his inauguration earlier in the day, President Donald Trump attended the Presidential Parade at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. on Monday afternoon, during which he signed multiple executive orders to mark the official launch of his new administration.
In front of a crowd of supporters, Trump announced the revocation of approximately 80 executive actions from the previous administration, including withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord, implementing a federal hiring freeze, and requiring federal workers to return to full-time in-office work.
“We’re going to make America great again,” Trump told the packed arena. “The work that begins today will make our country greater than it’s ever been before.”
The event began with performances by the Stewart’s Creek High School Band from Tennessee and Mississippi Valley State University’s “Mean Green Marching Machine.”
Steve Woodcock, the newly appointed Special Envoy to the Middle East, spoke at the event, outlining the Trump administration’s policy vision for the region and introducing families of Israeli hostages who were in attendance. Trump subsequently announced plans to pardon “J6 hostages,” drawing enthusiastic response from the crowd.
Trump also promised to take measures to combat inflation, reduce the cost of living, and address energy prices. “We have more oil and gas than any country in the world, and we’re going to use it,” he said.
First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and several Trump family members attended the event. Trump stated that after signing the executive orders at the arena, he would proceed to the White House Oval Office to sign additional documents.
