November 18, 2024 — President-Elect Donald Trump has announced the nomination of former Congressman Sean Duffy of Wisconsin to serve as Secretary of Transportation in his upcoming administration.
Trump described Duffy as a “tremendous and well-liked public servant” who began his career as a District Attorney in Ashland, Wisconsin, and later represented Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
During his tenure in Congress, Duffy earned bipartisan respect, playing a pivotal role in advancing the largest road and bridge project in Minnesota history. As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, he focused on promoting fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and rural development while advocating for transparency and accountability in government programs.
Duffy’s nomination underscores Trump’s vision for rebuilding and modernizing America’s infrastructure. The President-Elect stated that Duffy will prioritize “excellence, competence, competitiveness, and beauty” in addressing the nation’s transportation needs, from highways and bridges to airports and ports. He also pledged to enhance air travel safety by addressing DEI concerns affecting pilots and air traffic controllers.
A devoted family man, Duffy is married to Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy, and they have nine children. Trump highlighted Duffy’s commitment to ensuring families can travel “safely and with peace of mind.”
Duffy is expected to play a key role in Trump’s mission to usher in a “Golden Age of Travel,” with a focus on safety, efficiency, and innovation.
