November 13, 2024 – President-elect Donald Trump has announced the nomination of Jay Clayton, former Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Clayton, a highly respected business leader and public servant, previously led the SEC during Trump’s first term, where he earned praise for his outstanding work.
Clayton holds degrees in Engineering and Law from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as an Economics degree from the University of Cambridge. Prior to his SEC role, he was a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell. Clayton currently serves as a Senior Policy Advisor at Sullivan & Cromwell, a board member for several companies, and an adjunct professor at the Wharton Business School and Carey Law School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Trump expressed confidence that Clayton will be a strong advocate for truth and justice in his new role, continuing to fight for the American people.
