[VT | Philadelphia | Sept. 17, 2025] The Philadelphia Department of Revenue has issued a warning to residents about recent SMS scams targeting taxpayers. Fraudulent messages are being sent that impersonate the Revenue Department and request bank account or refund information.
The Department emphasized that these messages are not official and urged residents not to provide any banking or refund details via text. Citizens are advised to exercise caution, avoid clicking suspicious links, and block unknown numbers.
The Department also thanked those who have reported scam messages and encouraged sharing this alert with friends and family to prevent further incidents.
For official refund information, taxpayers should visit the Philadelphia Revenue Department’s website at tax-services.phila.gov. For questions, residents can contact the Department via email at revenue@phila.gov or by calling (215) 686-6600.
The Department reiterated that official channels are the only reliable sources for taxpayer and refund information and urged residents to remain vigilant against scams.
