Joseph B. Edlow Confirmed as Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

[VT- Washington, D.C. ]July 18, 2025 – Joseph B. Edlow was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as the new Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Director Edlow expressed his gratitude to President Donald J. Trump and Secretary Kristi Noem for their support, stating his commitment to advancing the administration’s agenda to restore integrity in the legal immigration system and enhance national security.

Edlow brings extensive experience in immigration policy, having previously served as deputy director for Policy and chief counsel at USCIS, deputy assistant attorney general at the Department of Justice, and counsel to members of Congress. He has also been active in think tanks and private legal practice.

Under his leadership, USCIS aims to reinforce its role in enforcing immigration laws, upholding the rule of law, and rebuilding public trust in the immigration process.
