ALLENTOWN, PA – Joe Khan, the Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania Attorney General, has garnered the endorsement of 22 prominent current and former elected officials from the Lehigh Valley. The announcement was made ahead of a press conference at the IBEW Local 375 union hall in Allentown.
Leading the endorsements were Lehigh County Executive Phil Armstrong and Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure. They were joined by Lehigh County Commissioners Geoff Brace, Zach Cole-Borghi, Bob Elbich, Dan Hartzell, and Dave Harrington; Northampton County Councilmembers Lori Vargo Heffner and Tara Zrinski; Township Supervisors Sunny Ghai (Upper Macungie) and Joyce Moore (Upper Milford); Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio; Allentown City Councilmembers Candida Affa, Cynthia Mota, Santo Napoli, and Ed Zucal; Parkland School Board Director Jay Rohatgi; Former Mayors Ray O’Connell (Allentown) and Ed Hozza (Whitehall); and State Representatives Peter Schweyer (HD-134), Rep. Josh Siegel (HD-22), and former State Representative Jennifer Mann.
These officials praised Khan’s commitment to community safety, his record against corruption, and his advocacy for women’s rights. Khan’s career highlights include prosecuting former Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski for corruption and representing Allentown against pharmaceutical companies in the opioid crisis.
Rep. Josh Siegel emphasized the significance of Khan’s campaign in uniting two major counties and noted the potential for Khan to become the first Asian-American elected to a statewide office in Pennsylvania.
Khan, a son of a Muslim immigrant and a Catholic nurse, has a diverse background and has been recognized for his legal achievements, including being named Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Solicitor in 2021. He currently resides in Doylestown with his two sons and is a partner at Curtin and Heefner in Bucks County.
