[VT New York, Sept. 19, 2025] The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York announced today that it will officially launch an online visa application system on September 30, 2025. Applicants traveling to China will be able to complete visa application forms and upload supporting documents through the new platform, designed to improve efficiency and convenience.
According to the consulate’s notice, the system will go live on September 30, 2025, and will be accessible via http://consular.mfa.gov.cn/VISA/. Once activated, applicants can submit their visa materials online, reducing reliance on paper forms and in-person submissions.
The consulate emphasized that this step reflects an important move toward digitalizing consular services. In recent years, the Consulate General in New York has introduced a series of measures, including “visa application without prior appointments,” to optimize the application process. The new system is expected to save applicants time and travel costs, particularly those living in states surrounding New York who are far from the consulate.
The Consulate General advises applicants to check the designated website after September 30 for the latest guidelines, application procedures, and document requirements to ensure smooth processing. The launch of this online system marks a significant upgrade in service efficiency and transparency, offering greater convenience to U.S. citizens and other foreign passport holders applying for visas to China.
