Chicagoans and visitors are advised to anticipate significant disruptions around the United Center and McCormick Place. From August 16 to August 23, the vicinity of the United Center will experience extensive road closures. Streets such as West Washington Boulevard, Damen Avenue, and West Madison Street will be shut down to vehicles, with some areas also restricted to pedestrians. Notably, parking lots around the United Center will be inaccessible.

Similarly, around McCormick Place, vehicle access will be restricted from August 16, starting at 10 p.m. The closures will affect Indiana Avenue, Michigan Avenue, and Cermak Road, among others. Pedestrians will need proper credentials to access the McCormick Place area.

In response to the expected congestion, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has planned several bus route modifications. Routes such as #1 (Bronzeville/Union Station), #3 (King Drive), and #4/#X4 (Cottage Grove) will be rerouted to avoid McCormick Place. Additionally, Route #20 (Madison) will travel on Harrison Street instead of Madison, and Route #21 (Cermak) will adjust its path around the McCormick Place Green Line Station.

Accessibility Information

For those with disabilities, the convention has made provisions to ensure accessibility. Delegates will have access to shuttles that are fully accessible CTA city buses. Visitors are encouraged to use public transit to avoid the traffic disruptions, with detailed route information available through the CTA, Metra, and Pace Bus services.
