Beginning with the start of service on September 5, SEPTA Metro L trains will bypass 11th Street Station. The station and the 11th Street concourse will remain closed until August 2027.
During the closure, riders may use the accessible 13th Street Station. Because the underground concourse between 13th and 11th streets will also be closed, passengers transferring between the L and Regional Rail should make their connections at 15th Street/City Hall Station.
The project will add elevators to make 11th Street Station ADA accessible. SEPTA will also renovate station entrances, flooring, tiles and lighting; repair the ceiling structure; improve waterproofing; and install updated signs and maps.
Similar projects typically take about 35 months, according to SEPTA. Closing the station continuously for 12 months is expected to shorten the project by at least 10 months and save up to $3 million. The station is scheduled to reopen in August 2027, while the remaining construction is expected to be substantially completed by June 2028.
