President-Elect Donald Trump Announces Congressman Mike Waltz as National Security Advisor

November 12, 2024 – President-elect Donald J. Trump has announced the appointment of Congressman Mike Waltz (R-FL) as National Security Advisor, bringing a seasoned military leader and national security expert into his Cabinet.

In his statement, Trump praised Waltz as a “strong champion of my America First Foreign Policy agenda” and highlighted his extensive experience in military and national security. Waltz is the first Green Beret to be elected to Congress and previously served as a policy advisor in the White House and the Pentagon.

During his 27-year military career, Waltz served multiple combat tours in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Africa as a Special Forces officer. He was decorated with four Bronze Stars for his actions, including two with Valor, and retired with the rank of Colonel. He is a recognized authority on global security issues, particularly the threats posed by China, Russia, Iran, and terrorism.

Waltz currently serves as a senior member on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He is also a bestselling author and a distinguished graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, where he earned honors.

Congressman Waltz represents Florida’s Sixth Congressional District and resides in St. Augustine, Florida, with his wife, Dr. Julia Nesheiwat. She is a combat veteran and former Homeland Security Advisor under President Trump.
