[VT – Philadelphia] May 2025 –Josh Prince [104] is a Republican candidate in the 2025 special election for Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Court. Voters will select one judge from multiple contenders in the May 20 Republican Primary.

Candidate Background
Born and raised in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Josh Prince graduated from The Hill School and later earned dual honors degrees in Political Science and World Religions from McGill University in Montreal. He then received his law degree with honors from Widener Law School, where he served on the law review.

Professional Background
Since 2009, Prince has built a career focused on civil rights and administrative law. He initially worked in general law practice before founding his own firm. He is best known for defending Second Amendment rights in both state and federal courts, such as securing the right to carry firearms on school property and challenging firearm restrictions in Pittsburgh.

Prince has represented clients in diverse legal areas including election law, family law, zoning, social security disability, mental health law, school law, and workers’ compensation. He has litigated 13 cases before the Commonwealth Court in the past six years, winning 10 with two pending and one under appeal to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. He also served as President of the Pottstown Police Athletic League and provides pro bono legal services to underserved communities.

Policy Positions
Prince promotes restorative justice, emphasizing fairness, respect, and rehabilitation over punishment. He advocates for practical, community-based solutions like restitution, mediation, and policy reform. He believes a judge must act with humility, integrity, and accountability, ensuring all individuals are treated equally under the law. Notably, he filed a King’s Bench Petition during COVID-19 to challenge the classification of law firms as non-essential, doing so openly in violation of the mandate as part of his ethical commitment to the profession.
